Teacher characteristics and effective teaching among secondary school teachers in calabar education zone, cross river state nigeria

The study examined the influence of teacher characteristics (teacher qualification and year teaching experience) on effective among secondary school social studies teachers in Calabar education zone Cross River State Nigeria. To achieve this objective, two hypotheses were formulated tested. survey research design was adopted for study. sample consist One hundred sixty-four (164) sixty (60) schools zone. structured questionnaire titled “Teacher Characteristics Effective Teaching Questionnaire’’ (TCETQ) developed by researcher validated experts Sociology Education measurement/Evaluation, it had a reliability coefficient .75 & .92 using split half method. One-way analysis variance (ANOVA) statistical tool used to test at 0.05 level significance. result revealed that teachers’ experience significantly teaching. Based findings, recommended others should be encouraged frequently go professional development long short term courses order acquire knowledge can facilitate delivery those who have spent more years see need give room mentor-mentee relationship betterment system.
